Job Title: Regulatory Compliance Specialist
 

Location: Lowell, MA
 

Salary: $20 / Hourly

 

Schedule: M-F 9:00am – 5:00pm

 

 GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Regulatory Compliance Specialist is responsible for requesting, collecting, reviewing, validating, and maintaining the vendor and ingredient documentation information database; updates all necessary vendor and item documents on an annual basis to maintain compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and PGI’s supplier approval program. Is also responsible for requesting, collecting, and maintaining finished product specification sheets approved by our customers.

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Communicates with existing or new suppliers (i.e. ingredient, food contact packaging, and chemicals) and service providers (i.e., freight and pest control companies) to obtain required external documentation outlined in the supplier program (i.e., specifications, nutritional’s, allergens, non-GMO, sample COAs, COIs, etc.).
  • Initiates supplier and providers approval packets per our supplier approval program to facilitate new vendor or new ingredient set up for R&D, Procurement, or QC & QA Departments.
  • Cross references new documentation received against current documentation (if applicable) to ensure food safety compliance.
  • Initiates customer approval packets related to specification sheets and additional requirements agreed between PGI and the customer.
  • Assists with the creation of a nutritional fact panel as well as specification sheets and labels for finished products.
  • Assists the regulatory team with keeping all internal databases up to date (i.e., Flavor Studio, Safety Chain, Vicinity, etc.).
  • Collaborates and communicates with Procurement and Quality Control Department along with other internal departments related to ingredient and vendor documentation.
  • Works with internal team to manage the National Organic Program (NOP) Certification (i.e., ingredient documentation, finished goods documentation, etc.).
  • Follows up with vendors on a regular basis to ensure all documentation is current.
  • Reviews suppliers and acquires specifications and corresponding documentation for food contact packaging, ingredients, and chemicals within the manufacturing plant.
  • Maintains all documentation related to freight and pest control companies.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred. • 1+ years' experience working with activities pertaining to administrative classifications and food terminology preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of food manufacturing experience preferred. • Knowledge of food safety and allergens preferred.
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite computer skills required.
  • Knowledge of local state and federal regulations related to food safety preferred. • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks and projects at once required.
  • Experience working closely with senior management team preferred.
  • Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills required. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently required.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending, squatting, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 30 pounds.
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, food allergens and gas.
  • Must be able to work in the heat/steam and cold environment when required.

Pay Range
