Job Description
Bose seeks a passionate, adaptable engineer to engage with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for meeting
upcoming Global Environmental Compliance(GEC) regulations, while supporting broader company product circularity initiatives.


Responsibilities include:

  • Work with GEC team, Contract Manufacturers(CM) and cross functional teams to assure that parts and products sourced and manufactured by Bose Corporation are compliant with global environmental regulations and customer requirements.

  • Support NPI team on environmental compliance related assessments and validations; ensure product can be launched on time with all required certifications outline in the plan.

  • Conduct biocompatibility and Prop 65 material assessments on components with user exposure.

  • Provide guidance to CM and tier 2 component suppliers to accurately report material data

  • Track regulatory compliance. Understand and communicate potential impact to Bose products.

  • Work with Global Supply Chain Management team Engineering and Legal to develop compliance plan for new and changed regulations affecting Bose.

  • Respond to environment compliance enquires from internal and external customers.

  • Work closely with ESG (Environment, Social and Governance), Supply Chain and Engineering to improve circularity and sustainability in component / material selection and product design.

  • Work with advanced material, plastic engineering teams and material suppliers to select and validate compliant, sustainable plastic resins, paints, and other engineering materials.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Global Environmental Compliance (GEC) for product and packaging, providing guidance to product development, supply chain and other stakeholders.

  • Communicate best practice for design for circularity to engineering.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or material engineering. Other engineering disciplines with relevant experience will be considered

  • 7+ years of related work experience in electronic industry

  • Experience in Product Environmental Compliance. Familiar with one or more of the following: EU RoHS, REACH, California Prop 65, EU ESPR and upcoming regulations on PFAS

  • Experience working in electronic industry

  • Experience in automotive electronics and IMDS (A Plus)

  • Experience in overseeing Contract Manufacturers to perform compliance validations.

  • Experience in Material Management database operation and management.

  • Strong comprehension of regulations. Able to assess compliance requirements from regulation

  • Familiar with full material declarations process using IPC1752 and/or IMDS. Ability to analyze data from multiple databases and excel spreadsheets.

  • Familiar with Product data management PDM/PLM system. (Preferred)

  • Good working knowledge of common engineering materials and electronic components.

  • Working knowledge of biocompatibility of surface devices, ISO10993, chemical characterization, Prop 65 exposure assessment

  • Act independently while taking guidance and general direction from the manager.

  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.

  • Interest in Circular Economy and Sustainability is a plus
