Description:
This position will report to the Director of Compliance and work closely with our programs and operations staff to maintain compliance with state and federal food distribution program requirements. The Compliance Manager will assist with coordinating internal reviews and external audits, insurance reporting as well as helping update standard operating procedures.
We are looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to ensure that our operations comply with legal regulatory standards, procedures, and policies. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in issue identification, investigation, prevention, monitoring and detection, and resolution.
Essential Functions:
Compliance – 60%
Document and evaluate compliance activities for program and operations teams.
Identify compliance issues and recommend solutions based on regulations and established procedures.
Ensure our organization remains up to date on all regulatory and licensing requirements in accordance with company, state, and federal regulations.
Identify, investigate, and report compliance issues, irregularities, and violations.
Maintaining records of compliance activities.
Act as a liaison between program teams and government agencies.
Prepare and file compliance reports.
Report and file insurance claims.
Review and ensure adequate insurance coverage requirements.
Plan and conduct internal reviews against regulations and procedures.
Draft response and correction action plans for external audit findings.
Research and stay current with changes in relevant laws, regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, Feeding America standards, state health codes), and best practices affecting food banks and non-profit organizations.
Process Improvement – 30%
Create and conduct employee training on compliance matters, including policies, practices, and reporting systems.
Review Standard Operating Procedures and identify opportunities for enhancement or improvement.
Assists program teams and other others within the organization to develop, update and maintain working Standard Operating Procedures.
Training & Education (10%)
Develop and deliver compliance training programs for new and existing staff and potentially partner agencies.
Create clear and accessible training materials (e.g., presentations, handouts, online modules).
Provide ongoing guidance and support to staff on compliance-related questions and issues.
Promote a culture of compliance awareness and accountability throughout the organization.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field. (Master's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business is a plus.)
5 years of experience in a for profit, government or not for profit organization; preferably in a compliance role.
Knowledge of laws, legal codes, procedures, and other relevant regulatory standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in an operations consulting/process improvement role. Some understanding of food flow environments. S/He should also have strong analytical thinking skills and be able to maintain meticulous records.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Sitting for 80% of the workday. Occasionally lifts office supplies up to 20 lbs. Normal business office, with frequent tight deadlines. Some situations may require support at our Lorton, VA location.

Compensation:
$76,500 - $83,800 annually
This position is classified as exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Schedule:
Hybrid schedule with two remote workdays per week.
