Position Summary


We are seeking an eager, motivated management trainee to join our growing organization. In this position, you will be given the unique opportunity to gain the knowledge and experience required to become a successful leader at DMA. Throughout the course of this management trainee program, the trainee will obtain the skills vital to understanding the business needs of the department; work directly with directors and vice presidents throughout the company; develop the skills to lead employees, oversee client engagements and be instrumental in the success of the department, division, and company.


The management trainee will proceed through the program in one of three compliance areas – Transaction Tax, Property Tax or Business License, which will be identified through the interview process. The management trainee will advance through the three-level program along with fellow management trainees from each compliance area. All trainees will be required to demonstrate mastery of several criteria to complete certification at the end of each level. Upon successfully completing the level III certification, the management trainee will be promoted to management and lead a team of individuals and directly manage several client engagements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Develop management and compliance skills for advancing through the program

  • Obtain skills to become client account manager for compliance department

  • Attend training sessions to develop necessary leadership skills.

  • Acquire business development skills for prospect and client interactions; preparation of quotes, proposals, Statements of Work, and RFP’s (request for proposal)

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the financial aspects of the department

  • Learn and understand compliance preparation, processes, and procedures

  • Ongoing preparation of filings, payments, and analyzing jurisdictional correspondence

  • Acquire knowledge of quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate filing and payment of returns

  • Develop understanding of implementation processes for onboarding of new clients and monthly processes for client data

  • Conduct research on behalf of clients

  • Develop understanding of software systems utilized in the department


Non-essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Attend routine meetings with executive team

  • Work closely with other divisions to better understand company initiatives

  • Contribute to improving program for subsequent management trainee’s

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education and Qualifications



  • Current college student that will obtain a Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in the Spring of 2025 in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Economics or related field strongly preferred

  • Previous internship experience in a related field/industry strongly preferred

  • Adaptability to changing situations and fast-paced environment

Application and Interview Process


Applications will be reviewed and interviews will begin during the 2024 Fall semester. The interview process will be explained during the initial phone screening phase.


The target start date for this program is Monday, June 2nd, 2025.


This position will report to our Indianapolis, IN office as an in-person, onsite role.
