The Marine Code Compliance Officer performs investigative, technical and administrative operations associated with enforcing compliance and resolving complaints in connection with the Village's code of ordinances, business tax receipts, public nuisance, land development regulations, and housing codes. This position specializes in code violations that are visible from the waterways, but will also assist the Department with non-marine code compliance violations. Work involves receiving and responding to a wide variety of code enforcement non-emergency calls while operating a vessel, but not requiring the presence of a certified law enforcement official. Employees in this classification have no arrest powers. Employees in this classification exercise considerable independent judgment, tact and firmness, while recognizing the importance of effective public relations in resolving complaints of citizens, investigating violations and enforcing compliance of Village codes, rules and regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Tasks involve the intermittent performance of moderately physically demanding work, which typically includes some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching and may include the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). Some tasks may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavier objects. Must be able to enter a vessel from the water unassisted.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and may be subjected to unpleasant environmental factors, e.g., heat, humidity, inclement weather. Some tasks involve working in and around moving vehicles and associated vehicle/equipment areas, where heightened awareness to surroundings and observance of established safety precautions contribute to the prevention of injuries/accidents.
