Job description – Your mission :

The HR Operations & Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration of Human Resources operations while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws across operations.

This position serves as the operational leader for HR processes, employee relations, leave administration, policy management, compliance auditing, safety recordkeeping coordination, and HR systems administration. The role partners closely with the VP of Human Resources to develop and implement HR strategies that support organizational goals while minimizing risk and ensuring a positive employee experience.

The HR Operations & Compliance Manager serves as a key resource to managers and employees and provides leadership in the consistent application of company policies, procedures, and employment practices.

 

Responsibilities – What you will do :

HR Operations

  • Manage daily HR operations for all company locations. 
  • Ensure consistency and compliance in HR policies, practices, and procedures. 
  • Oversee employee onboarding, transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, and separations. 
  • Maintain personnel records and HR documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Assist with workforce planning and organizational development initiatives. 



Compliance & Risk Management

  • Monitor compliance with federal and state employment laws including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, OSHA, EEO, USERRA, and applicable State regulations.
  • Conduct periodic HR compliance audits and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain and update employee handbook, policies, and procedures.

Employee Relations

  • Conduct investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, and workplace concerns.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers regarding employee relations matters.
  • Assist in conflict resolution and corrective action processes.
  • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives.

Leave & Benefits Administration

  • Oversee administration of FMLA, medical leaves, ADA accommodations, and other protected leave programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all leave-related regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Support benefits administration, annual open enrollment, and employee benefit communications.

Safety & Workers' Compensation Administration

  • Coordinate OSHA recordkeeping and injury reporting.
  • Oversee workers' compensation claims administration and return-to-work programs.
  • Coordinate safety training requirements with operational leadership and external vendors.
  • Maintain required safety documentation and records.

HR Systems & Reporting

  • Serve as primary administrator and subject matter expert for HRIS systems.
  • Ensure integrity of employee data and reporting.
  • Develop and analyze HR metrics and reports to support business decisions.
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure efficient and compliant HR/payroll processes.

Leadership & Development

  • Provide direction and support to staff members.
  • Collaborate on HR best practices and process improvements.
  • Support succession planning and talent development initiatives.
  • Serve as backup to the VP of Human Resources as needed.

Requirements, experience and skills :


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Multi-site manufacturing or industrial environment experience preferred.
  • Experience with employment law compliance, employee relations, and leave administration.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience administering FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, and employee benefits.
  • HRIS administration experience required.
  • Excellent communication, investigation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR technology systems.
