The Compliance Officer is responsible for assisting in the process of developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance with casino internal controls and procedures as to ensure compliance with Federal, State regulations and to gaming regulations, pursuant to the national Indian Gaming Commission, Minimum Internal Control Standards, and Tribal Internal Control Standards as they pertain to the gaming operations. All positions within the Otoe-Missouria Gaming Enterprise are responsible for the overall maintaining of excellent guest services, efficient productivity, and providing an orderly, safe, and exciting workplace. All positions within the Enterprise require attention to quality guest services skills and exceptional teamwork.
The following is a list of the main duties and responsibilities of the Compliance Officer. However, other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary by reporting department management.
DEPARTMENT/CASINO OPERATIONS
Works with the casino departments to research and write appropriate and efficient internal controls and procedures.
Coordinates with casino departments to research and assist in development of Title 31 Compliance Policies and Procedures.
Serves as a resource for casino departments in addressing Title 31 and compliance issues.
Keep informed and current of state, federal and tribal regulations, and guidelines to ensure adequate compliance with all applicable regulations.
Provides ongoing compliance reporting to Compliance Management.
Assist in performing risk assessments and develops compliance audit programs.
Assist in executing compliance audit programs and summarizes findings in a clear and concise written report.
Develops and coordinates compliance and Title 31 training materials/programs.
Drafts written responses to Internal and External Audit reports.
Investigates and assists in resolving issues of compliance and Title 31 issues.
Observe Title 31 activities and compliance with applicable controls, laws, policies, and regulations.
Maintains accurate, detailed records of matters relating to compliance with Title 31 activity.
Reports weaknesses in the gaming operations Title 31 program and recommends procedures to eliminate the weaknesses.
Maintains a working knowledge of relevant gaming issues and regulations of Internal Controls. Title 31, Regulation 22, and Regulation 26.
Greet guest and team members eagerly upon arrival to the casino/hotel, always maintain an initiative-taking guest service approach.
Be able to assist with guest questions by being knowledgeable regarding promotions, events, specials, areas, and locations of casino.
Maintaining attendance to ensure Casino and Guest has necessary coverage to provide efficient guest service standards.
Perform all other duties as assigned by Management.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Monitors all relevant activities of the department, to ensure that all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and controls of the organization, and the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) and the Otoe-Missouria Gaming Commission (OMGC) are understood and enforced by departmental personnel.
Ensures all staff are aware of, understands and complies with regulatory requirements and enforces regulatory standards.
Performs all duties in accordance with company team member handbook, objectives of the Otoe Missouria Tribe, internal policies, procedures, and controls, as well as applicable laws and gaming regulations, including but not limited to, the state-tribal compact, IGRA, MICS, OM TICS, the Bank Secrecy Act.

Makes effort to keep informed of company information and communications by reviewing property bulletin boards, digital signage, and company newsletter.

Ensures company information provided by property management is effectively communicated to assigned staff and ensures staff concerns, requests for information, and ideas for improvements are effectively relayed to management.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma (or equivalent). Minimum of 1 year experience in audit, regulatory compliance, or equivalent position that includes responsibility for implementing and testing of internal controls.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of general accounting, auditing, and internal controls standards/principals and investigative techniques
Has Thorough knowledge of and comprehension of all relevant policy, law, and regulations.
Ability to review operational areas, identify key internal controls, and draft sound, effective and operationally efficient internal control procedures that comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Must be punctual and dependable in reporting to work as scheduled and completing assigned tasks.
Read, write, and speak the English language. Read professional publications, memos, emails, logs, newsletters, and documents.
Competence using Microsoft Office application as well as the ability to quickly build skills using job-specific software is essential. Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and use of the Internet.

Must be able to provide the following cards or work authorization documents: All documents required to show the incumbent is eligible to work in the United States. Required to pass a drug test and obtain and maintain a gaming license to work in a casino from the Otoe Missouria Gaming Commission.
