Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Engineering Technician provides maintenance and troubleshooting services to the facilities, manufacturing operations and its associated utilities as well as the main utilities require for site operation.
- Incumbent is accountable for responsibilities such as: maintains, alters, calibrates, modifies, installs, removal, trouble-shoots and repairs equipment's of mid-level to high level of complexity under general direction.
- Performs preventive and predictive maintenance of production equipment, utilities equipment and control systems, following the establish guidelines for the CMMS system, equipment operational procedures, site and manufacturer recommended maintenance practices.
- Reports opportunities capture during preventive maintenance execution.
- Provides recommendations for preventive maintenance task improvements.
- Follows the weekly maintenance plan and alerts when there might be a risk of not complying with the preventive maintenance schedule.
- Generates maintenance work orders to report and coordinate repairs for tasks out of the scope of the preventive maintenance.
- Provides mechanical, electrical, electronics, fabrication, instrumentation or automated support for troubleshooting activities.
- Performs troubleshooting work in order to identify equipment malfunction and performs the required repair work.
- Coordinates support from other areas such as HVAC, Utilities, Instrumentation, Automation and/or Machine Shop for the troubleshooting, if required.
- The troubleshooting can be generated as a consequence of an equipment malfunction, calibration process, equipment performance monitoring and predictive maintenance reports.
- Provides support for the root-cause analysis of equipment related failures.
- Works from verbal and written instructions, including but not limited to equipment manuals, drawing, sketches and preventive/corrective maintenance task list.
- Generates maintenance work orders to report equipment malfunction or repairs needed for process equipment, control systems, electrical systems, facilities, instrumentation and utilities.
- Provides support for capital projects which includes but not limited to the introduction of new equipment, new products, new processes, changes in process, formulation changes, equipment upgrades and improvements.
- Supports validation activities of equipment, product or processes as required.
- This can include installation, EHS inspection, drawings verification, instrumentation verification, measurements and/or functional testing. Documentation (Hard Copy/Electronic)
- Responsible for preparing, reviewing, auditing, recording and maintaining operational documentation such as but not limited to, logbooks, monitoring parameter forms, safety inspection forms, corrective and preventive maintenance work orders, calibration records, or any other document required as per site procedures.
- Document in the Computerized Maintenance Management System as per applicable procedures the preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Training, SOP's and GMP
- Stays current on the appropriate policies, procedures, methods and practices including safety guidelines and GMP.
- Recommends changes to Maintenance Tasks and SOP's.
- Follows safety procedures, recommended practices, job safety analysis, safe work permits and complies with plant safety programs at all time.
- Observe and notify any risk situation for the environment, health or safety.
- Learn, understand and practice safe working habits, safety rules and regulation.
- Maintains an open and effective channel of communication with Direct Supervisor, Operational areas and Functional areas.
- This includes but not limited to Process Engineers, Manufacturing Supervisors, Manufacturing Technicians, Manufacturing Operators, Instrumentation Technician.
Qualifications Requirements/Knowledge/Education:
- Associate/Technical degree in Industrial Mechanics, Electricity, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or Instrumentation
- 0-4 years of relevant experience.
- Available to start the job immediately.
- 6 -12 months with an expectation to extend more time.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate equipment's, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25-35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- He / she may frequently work inside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, exposed to wet and or humid conditions, and an odorous atmosphere, may be exposed to fumes and the risk of electrical shock, and occasionally work on ladders in high places, in small spaces, such as lift/metering stations, manholes, tanks and wet wells. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
