Job Description:
The Director of Risk Management and Compliance will play a crucial role in promoting our institution's interests and regulatory compliance across all programs. This position provides leadership and direction to identify, evaluate and plan strategies for risk management and insurance programs. The successful candidate will have an exciting opportunity to build these programs, with support from leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive risk management program and strategies, including working with the Vice President to implement enterprise risk management framework
- Oversee insurance programs and policies; recommend strategies and make decisions on insurance needs, structure of program, and related communications
- Develop and oversee compliance program and initiatives, in conjunction with other team members
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans
- Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to address risk and compliance strategy and issues
- Design and deliver training programs on risk management and compliance topics
- Stay current with evolving laws in higher education and healthcare
Qualifications:
- Law degree preferred; Master's degree or higher in Risk Management, Law, business administration or related field
- 6+ years of experience in risk management and/or compliance, preferably in higher education
- Experience with enterprise risk management, identifying opportunities and efficiencies, in addition to risks to mitigate
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; ability to communicate effectively in writing and directly with university leadership
- Innovative mindset with a track record of implementing creative solutions and ability to achieve excellence in risk management and compliance programs
- Adaptability and excitement to learn and develop as a professional
- Professional certifications (e.g., ARM, CRM, CPCU) strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of professional ethics
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Periodic travel required
