Job Description

THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION.

NYCHA is the country’s largest public housing provider and its mission is to provide more than 166,000 high-quality deeply affordable public housing units and more than 88,000 Section 8 units to New Yorkers. The Compliance Department's mission is to ensure that the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) complies with laws and regulations and is ethical in fulfilling its overall mission to provide safe, affordable housing to its residents; oversees NYCHA's compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations; ensures the accuracy of NYCHA's regulatory reporting and statements; develops and maintains updated procedures that align with laws and regulations; ensures the integrity of the National Standard for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) inspections and all other inspections at NYCHA; maintains a communication channel for compliance-related complaints; promotes compliance through communication and special initiatives; ensures that NYCHA management and staff receive appropriate compliance training.

The Procedures Unit in the Compliance Department is responsible for the development and maintenance of NYCHA’s standard operating procedures. Unit staff work with business units to create new or update existing procedures to reflect current organizational structure, policies, processes, regulations, and laws.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with updating Excel spreadsheet reports including reaching out to NYCHA departments to verify information.
- Review physical files prior to disposal to confirm adherence to retention schedules.
- Assist with the management of the Procedures Unit electronic database of procedural documents and physical files.

Qualifications

For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
