Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Operations to assist the Department of Athletics with daily operations and administration of the department. The primary responsibility is the ongoing compliance of an NCAA Division III intercollegiate institution. The ideal candidate will be someone with the administrative experience to meet the operational needs for 14 varsity intercollegiate athletic programs who is passionate about the department's mission to cultivate disciples and pursue excellence.

Compliance: Oversee all areas of compliance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS), and institutional rules and regulations:

  • Provide orientation and ongoing education to all student-athletes, coaches, university personnel and representatives of athletics interests with regard to all NCAA, CCS and institutional rules
  • Review and assess all student-athlete compliance forms
  • Monitor all daily compliance activities throughout the department including recruiting and daily/seasonal practice activities
  • Assist in the interpretation of NCAA and conference rules for coaches and staff
  • Identify potential rules violations and report them to the Director of Athletics, CCS, and NCAA
  • Assist with information and data collection for annual reporting
  • Serve as CCS conference compliance liaison

Daily Operations: Oversees the daily operational needs of the Department of Athletics in the following areas:

  • Athletics Laundry
  • Reservations, Maintenance, and Scheduling of Indoor Facilities
  • Coordination of Student-Employees and Volunteers (ScotsWork and SERVE Programs)
  • Game-day operations, including contests held over academic breaks
  • Management of athletics and conference services summer employees

Administration:

  • Serve as a department super user in order to providing training and ongoing support for internal software systems (Slate, CBI, Banner, Event Request Form)
  • Participate in the hiring and onboarding of athletics personnel
  • Other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Requirements:

  • Bachelors' Degree; Master's Degree, along with experience working in college athletics preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with coaches, students, faculty, administration and community
  • Familiarity with higher education administration
  • Good written and oral communication skills

Physical Work Environment:

  • This role is expected to be performed on campus unless otherwise directed or arranged for and operates primarily around campus athletic facilities as well as in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other job-related technology.
  • There is a mix of standing and sitting for this particular role.
  • Classified as medium, occasional lifting or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) up to 30 lbs.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas and conversation by means of the spoken word; needs to be fluent and conversant using the English language.
  • Generally, college hours of operation for full-time staff are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. For athletics personnel, days and hours of work are primarily dictated by the needs of the athletic department and will occasionally require working evenings and weekends.
  • Some travel will be required for professional development and NCAA and conference meetings.
